สวัสดีค่ะ น้องๆชาว Unigang การสอบ O-NET ก็จบไปแล้วนะคะ ตอนนี้ก็มาถึงเวลาของ GAT-PAT

น้องๆหลายคนคงเคยรับรู้กิตติศัพท์ความยากของ GAT อังกฤษกันมาแล้วใช่มั้ยคะ ไม่ว่าจะเคยไปสอบมาแล้ว หรือได้ยินรุ่นพี่ร่ำลือกันมา น้องๆหลายคนอาจจะแก้ปัญหาด้วยการท่องศัพท์เยอะๆ ซึ่งก็เป็นวิธีที่ดีค่ะ แต่ทำอย่างเดียวไม่พอ เพราะประโยคในข้อสอบ GAT ส่วนใหญ่เป็นประโยคที่ยุ่งยาก ซับซ้อน ถึงน้องๆรู้ความหมายของศัพท์แต่ละคำ แต่ถ้าไม่แม่น grammar หรือที่ชอบพูดกันว่า grammar ไม่แข็งแรง ก็จะแกะประโยคไม่เป็น การตีความก็จะผิด เวลาเลือกคำตอบ ก็จะออกทะเลไปเลย

วิธีการทำประโยคให้ซับซ้อนในภาษาอังกฤษ ที่ข้อสอบจะใช้หลอกล่อน้องๆ (หรือจริงๆก็คือ ต้องการทดสอบน้องๆ)มีอยู่หลายวิธีค่ะ แต่จากการที่พี่บุ๋มวิเคราะห์ข้อสอบ GAT ทั้ง 6 ชุดเนี่ย พี่บุ๋มก็พบว่า วิธีที่เป็นที่นิยมและชวนสับสนมากที่สุดวิธีหนึ่ง ก็คือ การใช้ relative clause

ก่อนอื่น เราจะต้องมาทำความเข้าใจกันก่อนว่า relative clause คืออะไร น้องๆอาจจะถามว่า relative clause เทียบได้กับอะไรในภาษาไทย ถ้าพี่บอกว่า มันคืออนุประโยคแบบหนึ่ง ที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยคำว่า ที่ซึ่งอันโดยมีหน้าที่ขยายส่วนที่อยู่ข้างหน้า น้องๆก็อาจจะยังงงๆอยู่ แต่เดี๋ยวพี่จะยกตัวอย่างให้น้องๆดูค่ะ รับรองน้องๆจะ get

จริงๆแล้วในแต่ละวัน เราใช้ประโยคในลักษณะนี้ไม่รู้กี่รอบต่อกี่รอบ เช่น ถ้าเราอยากจะพูดว่า ผมซื้อเสื้อมาให้คุณกับ คุณชอบเสื้อไหมครับเราสามารถใช้ relative clause รวมประโยคสองประโยคนี้เข้าด้วยกัน กลายเป็น คุณชอบเสื้อที่ผมซื้อมาให้ไหมครับ คำว่า ที่ตรงนี้เป็นประพันธสรรพนาม แทนคำว่า เสื้อ

ในภาษาไทย ฟังดูแล้วเป็นเรื่องง่ายใช่มั้ยคะ แต่ภาษาอังกฤษมีกฎเกณฑ์ในเรื่องนี้เยอะแยะมากมาย ถ้ายุ่งยากอย่างนี้ เรื่องนี้เรายอมทิ้งไป แล้วเอาเวลาไปเตรียมเรื่องอื่นดีกว่าหรือเปล่า คำตอบก็คือ ทิ้งไม่ได้เด็ดขาด!
 

ทำไมพี่บุ๋มถึงกล้าฟันธงขนาดนี้?

เหตุผลก็คือ ในข้อสอบ GAT แต่ละชุด มีเรื่องอย่างนี้อยู่เป็นสิบๆจุดค่ะ อย่างที่พี่บอกไปแล้วนะคะ กฎเกณฑ์เรื่อง relative clause ในภาษาอังกฤษมีเยอะมาก ข้อสอบจึงสามารถทดสอบความรู้เรื่องนี้ของน้องๆได้ในหลายรูปแบบ บางประโยคอาจจะดูเหมือนไม่ยาก แต่บางประโยคนี่ เห็นแล้วต้องบอกว่าปวดตับ

พี่จะยกตัวอย่าง relative clause จากข้อสอบจริงมาให้น้องๆดูนะคะ เพื่อพิสูจน์ว่าพี่พูดจริง ส่วนที่เป็นสีเขียวและตัวเอนส่วนนั้นแหละ มันคือ relative clause
